Phonics
is
the study of sound or a way of learning words by linking sounds
(phonemes). With good knowledge of the phonics, one can fast build
vocabulary with ease. Our APP -Phonics Teacher is trying to facilitate
users in this study. Vowels: In English, or even most of the laugauages around the world, word pronuciation is made up of true sound (vowels) and assisting sounds(consanants). In English , there are 5 vowel letters (A,E,I,O,U, sometimes, Y being considered as the 6th ). There are more than 5 vowel sounds in English Phonics. Some vowel sound is simple e.g. [i] in "kit", [e] in "bed"; some joined together ( some called digath, diphthongs) such as [ɑɪ] in "Bike", [eɪ] in "cake"/, etc. Here is the list of vowel sounds and corresponding letter or letter groups (keep updating...): ![]() Consonants:
The rest of the sounds in the pronunciation is called consonant sounds,
which is a speech sound that is articulated with complete or partial
closure of the vocal tract. Most of the sounds not involved with
vibration of vocal cord, such as [b] [p] [t]. etc. ![]() As we can read from above, same letter or group can
give different phonemes. Some are more often pronounced than others,
such letter "a" are mostly spelled as
/eɪ/, /æ/, /ɒ/ and /ɑː/, but
it also gives sound of /ɔː/ in walk and /i/ in manager.
Catching the rare phonemes are the key to accurate spelling,
pronunciation and enlarging vocabulary with ease. By explore our Phonics
